PrestaShop Migration

We plan and implement PrestaShop migrations with clean data mapping, test imports, a URL concept, functional checks, and a controlled go-live – for version changes and when switching from or to other shop systems.

Move shop data, processes, and visibility into the new environment in a controlled way

A shop migration brings together technology, data, and ongoing business operations. Products, variants, categories, customers, orders, images, and CMS content must be transferred in full. At the same time, checkout, payment methods, shipping, interfaces, tracking, and important Google entry pages must not be overlooked.

Migration to a current PrestaShop version

For major version jumps, a core update is often not enough. We review modules, theme, overrides, PHP, database, and infrastructure and decide which components should be retained, adapted, or rebuilt. This applies especially when moving from PrestaShop 1.7 to 8 or 9.x. Smaller version changes can alternatively be implemented as a PrestaShop update.

Switching from Shopware, WooCommerce, Magento, or custom systems

When changing platforms, we capture the source and target structure as well as all data fields. Product attributes, variants, manufacturers, prices, taxes, stock levels, customer groups, orders, and vouchers are mapped clearly. Special logic is not copied blindly, but evaluated for business value and technical feasibility.

Data mapping and test migration

Before going live, we carry out at least one test import. This makes missing fields, character encoding issues, image paths, variant errors, and edge cases visible at an early stage. Spot checks and automated controls help compare quantities and data quality. The final migration is prepared only after corrections and business approval.

Preserving URLs, redirects, and SEO signals

Old product, category, manufacturer, and CMS URLs are recorded and assigned to their new targets. We review meta titles, descriptions, canonicals, indexing, and internal links and create redirect mapping. After launch, we check redirects, 404 errors, sitemap, crawling, and important landing pages. More details are included in the PrestaShop migration checklist.

Testing checkout, interfaces, and operations

A technically complete data transfer does not yet mean the shop has been accepted. We test registration, guest checkout, customer account, cart, discounts, taxes, payment methods, shipping, emails, invoicing processes, and connected systems. ERP, PIM, CRM, and marketplace integrations are checked together with the systems involved.

Go-live with a clear sequence

For the final switch, we define the data freeze, final delta import, DNS or routing, cache, redirects, tracking, and responsibilities. Backups and a rollback scenario remain available until the critical processes have been checked. This is followed by monitoring, bug fixing, and structured follow-up work.

Frequently asked questions about PrestaShop migration

Can orders and customer accounts be transferred? In many projects, yes. Scope and quality depend on the source system, data model, and legal requirements and are checked in advance.

How are ranking losses limited? Through a URL inventory, redirect mapping, transfer of relevant metadata, technical acceptance, and monitoring after go-live.

Can the existing shop continue running during preparation? Yes. Development and test migration take place separately. A coordinated time window is planned for the final data synchronization.
