WB Reviews: Product Reviews for PrestaShop
Reviews, verified purchases, questions and answers, customer media, moderation, a Google ratings feed, and a privacy-aware publishing workflow in a PrestaShop module developed by WALDBYTE.
Features, Compatibility, and Installation
Documentation status: August 14, 2026. This page describes WB Reviews 2.0.3 based on the module developed by WALDBYTE and used in the Ballonswelt practice project. Always create a complete backup and test installation or updates in staging before changing a production shop.
What WB Reviews provides
- Product ratings with a configurable approval and moderation workflow,
- verified-purchase status based on the shop's order relationship,
- customer questions and answers for product-specific information,
- optional customer photos and media with controlled publication,
- administrative review, status changes, and traceable processing,
- structured output and a product-ratings feed for supported Google workflows.
Compatibility and preparation
Compatibility must be assessed against the exact PrestaShop version, PHP version, theme, overrides, checkout customizations, installed modules, and caching setup. A module package being installable does not by itself prove that every storefront and back-office workflow works correctly.
Before installation, document the current shop version and theme, create a restorable file and database backup, prepare a staging environment, and define test products and customer accounts. Existing review data requires a separate mapping and migration decision.
Installation and initial verification
- Install the approved module package in staging.
- Review permissions, moderation defaults, notification settings, and media options.
- Test a normal review, a verified purchase, a rejected submission, and an edited approval.
- Review storefront output on desktop and mobile, including structured data.
- Test customer questions, answers, emails, media upload, and deletion where enabled.
- Verify cache behavior, logs, privacy text, and administrative access.
- Document the result before deploying the same package and configuration to production.
Verified purchases and moderation
A verified-purchase label should only be displayed when the review can be associated with an eligible order relationship. Moderation rules remain important even for verified reviews: publication, editing, rejection, and abuse handling need clear responsibilities.
Privacy and customer media
Collect only the information needed for the review workflow. Inform users how ratings, display names, questions, and uploaded media are processed. Define retention, deletion, moderation, and access procedures before accepting customer content. Legal wording and consent requirements should be reviewed for the concrete shop and market.
Google product-ratings feed
The feed must use stable product identifiers and only include data that satisfies the applicable program and data-quality requirements. Feed generation should be monitored for validation errors, missing identifiers, unavailable products, and unexpected changes after catalog imports.
Updates and troubleshooting
Before an update, record the installed module version, review schema changes, back up files and database, and repeat the staging test cases. If storefront output, moderation, emails, or feed generation fails, preserve the error message, logs, affected product, customer context, and the exact change that preceded the problem.
Frequently asked questions
Can existing reviews be imported?
Potentially, but source fields, product identifiers, verification status, dates, customers, media, and consent information need an explicit mapping and validation process.
Does the module publish every review automatically?
The intended workflow includes administrative moderation. Publication rules should be configured and tested for the shop's operating model.
Does verified purchase mean the review is positive?
No. It only indicates an eligible order relationship. Rating value and written opinion remain independent.
Can the module be adapted?
Project-specific adaptations are possible after reviewing the installed version, theme, data model, and required workflow.
