Module visual and data flow

PrestaShop+GA4→OpenAI→3–5 prioritised insights
Turn disconnected reports into a daily action plan
Store owners often have order data in PrestaShop and traffic data in Google Analytics 4, but little time to compare reports and decide what deserves attention. Raw dashboards can show what happened without explaining what to do next.
PrestaShop AI Analytics & Daily Business Insights solves this problem by combining yesterday’s aggregated GA4 metrics with relevant PrestaShop sales, cart, catalog, stock and product data. OpenAI converts that snapshot into 3–5 practical recommendations directly in the Back Office. Every insight includes a priority, category, observation, recommended action, supporting evidence and confidence score.
What the module does
- Generates 3–5 AI-assisted ecommerce insights once per day.
- Displays the latest recommendations in a Back Office dashboard widget.
- Covers traffic, conversion, revenue, abandoned carts, stock, products, SEO and marketing.
- Compares yesterday with previous 7-day and 30-day totals and daily averages.
- Uses Google Analytics 4 through a read-only Google OAuth connection.
- Supports service account JSON as an advanced alternative to OAuth.
- Lets the merchant select a GA4 property from the connected Google account.
- Uses the OpenAI Responses API with strict structured JSON output.
- Offers
gpt-5-mini,gpt-4.1-miniandgpt-4o-mini; the default isgpt-5-mini. - Generates insights in a language selected from the shop’s active languages.
- Caches each result by date, shop and language, so the dashboard reads stored results without a new API call on every page load.
- Supports manual regeneration from the module settings or dashboard.
- Supports a token-protected HTTP cron URL and the Symfony command
php bin/console aidailyinsights:generate. - Records recent generation status and errors for easier troubleshooting.
Data analyzed
PrestaShop data
- Valid orders, revenue and average order value for yesterday.
- Order and revenue totals for the previous 7 and 30 days.
- Best-selling and low-performing active products from the last 30 days.
- Active product count, low-stock count and selected low-stock examples.
- Abandoned cart count, estimated value and average value for yesterday and comparison periods.
Google Analytics 4 data
- Users, sessions, engagement, bounce rate, session duration, page views and events.
- Key events, add-to-cart activity, checkouts, purchases and purchase revenue.
- Traffic channels, source/medium, devices, landing pages, top pages and countries.
- Top events and aggregated ecommerce product performance.
Compatibility
- PrestaShop 8.x: compatible and supported from PrestaShop 8.0.0.
- PrestaShop 9.x: compatible and supported.
- PHP for PrestaShop 8: PHP 7.2.5–8.1, according to the exact PrestaShop 8 release.
- PHP for PrestaShop 9: PHP 8.1–8.5, according to the exact PrestaShop 9 release.
- Required PHP capabilities: cURL, JSON, OpenSSL and mbstring, in addition to the standard PrestaShop requirements.
PrestaShop 8 and 9 status: module version 1.0.0 supports both major versions. Back up the shop and test the connection, cron and dashboard on staging before production use.
Multistore and multilingual compatibility
Multistore: supported. Generated insights, logs and cache lookups are separated by shop ID. Cron and CLI generation can process all shops or target one shop. Configure and verify credentials and language in the intended shop context.
Multilingual insights: supported. The output language is selected from the active languages of the current shop, and cached results are separated by language. The Back Office source interface is English and includes a German translation file.
Screenshots and demo
The product gallery shows the dashboard insight cards, priorities and evidence, the OpenAI settings, Google OAuth and GA4 property selection, cron configuration, manual regeneration and recent generation logs.
This is a Back Office analytics module that requires the merchant’s own GA4 property and API credentials. A public live demo is therefore not included.
Installation and configuration
- Back up the shop files and database.
- In Back Office, open Modules > Module Manager > Upload a module, upload the ZIP and install it.
- Open the module configuration and enter your own OpenAI API key.
- Select the OpenAI model, output language and 3–5 insights per day.
- Create a Google OAuth client, enter its client ID and secret, and add the exact redirect URI shown by the module to the Google client.
- Connect the Google account with read-only Analytics access and select the GA4 property. Advanced users may instead supply service account JSON.
- Save the settings and generate one test result manually.
- Schedule the secured cron URL once per day or run
php bin/console aidailyinsights:generate. - Check the dashboard, cached result and recent generation logs.
An English README.md with installation, OAuth, HTTP cron, CLI options, security notes and the database model is included in the module package.
Version and changelog
Current version: 1.0.0
- 1.0.0 – Initial release: daily structured AI insights; PrestaShop and GA4 metrics; dashboard widget; OAuth and service-account authentication; shop/language-aware caching; secured cron; Symfony CLI command; manual regeneration; and generation logs.
Requirements and separate costs
- A Google Analytics 4 property containing usable shop traffic and ecommerce data.
- A merchant-managed Google OAuth client or Google service account with read-only Analytics access.
- A merchant-managed OpenAI API key with access to the selected model.
- OpenAI API usage is billed separately by OpenAI and is not included in the module price. Google service terms and any applicable Google costs also remain separate.
- Outgoing HTTPS connections from the shop server to Google and OpenAI must be allowed.
License, support and updates
- Included shop licenses: one production PrestaShop installation, including its shops when used as one multistore installation.
- License type: non-exclusive and non-transferable usage right. Redistribution, resale, sublicensing or sharing the module files is not allowed.
- Included support: download access, installation and configuration questions, and investigation of reproducible module defects in a listed standard environment.
- Not included: setup of Google Cloud, GA4 or OpenAI accounts as a service; analytics implementation or data repair; API usage charges; custom prompts/reports; custom development; theme adaptation; third-party conflicts; or server/cron administration. These services can be quoted separately.
- Updates and renewal: the current 1.0.0 package is included. No fixed duration of free future updates is promised. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal; a later paid major upgrade may be offered separately.
Data collected and external services
No Waldbyte telemetry or license-server call is built into the module. The module contacts external services only to provide the configured analytics and AI functions.
- Google: Google Accounts, OAuth token, Google Analytics Admin and Google Analytics Data APIs are contacted with the read-only
analytics.readonlyscope. The module retrieves GA4 property metadata and aggregated reports. - OpenAI: the OpenAI Responses API is contacted to generate the recommendations. The payload can include shop ID, date, currency, aggregated order/cart/catalog/stock metrics, product names and aggregated GA4 dimensions such as page paths/titles, traffic source/medium, country, event names and product performance. It does not intentionally send customer names, email addresses, postal addresses or order-level customer identifiers.
- Stored locally: API settings, Google credentials or OAuth refresh token, selected property/model/language, security tokens, raw aggregated metrics, generated insight JSON and generation logs are stored in the PrestaShop database. OAuth diagnostics may be written to the shop log directory.
The merchant is responsible for configuring privacy information, access permissions and retention according to applicable law and the chosen Google/OpenAI terms. Uninstalling the module removes its configuration and drops its insight and log tables; export any results that must be retained before uninstalling.
Troubleshooting
- Google connection fails: compare the redirect URI exactly and confirm the account can access the selected GA4 property.
- No insights are generated: check API key, model access, GA4 data, cron state and module logs.
- Daily generation runs repeatedly: inspect cache date, shop/language context and cron frequency; use force deliberately.
- Metrics appear incomplete: validate GA4 ecommerce events and PrestaShop order states before relying on AI output.
For any error, preserve PrestaShop and PHP logs, document the exact steps and reproduce the behaviour without cache in staging.
